Components of a modern buildings

 Foundation

 Foundation is necessary to evenly distribute the entire building load on the soil in such a manner that no damaging settlement takes place. Hence, the foundation need to be constructed on good soil ground.

 Plinth

Plinth is normally constructed just above the ground level and immediately after the foundation. It raises the floor above the ground level and herewith prevent surface water from entering the building.

  DPC  

  DPC is a layer of waterproofing material such as asphalt or waterproofing cement. Walls are constructed above the damp proof course. DPC prevent surface water from rising into the walls. Dampness reduce the strength of the walls. DPC is not required where a plinth beam is constructed because plinth beam already performs like a DPC.

   Plinth Beam

   It is constructed depending upon the type of the structure of the building and nature of the soil it provides additional stability in the regard to settlement of the building and earthquake damages.

  Floor

 Flooring is laid over the feeling of the plinth and on subsequent floors.  flooring is done to prevent dampness from rising to the top.

  Walls

  If the walls are very long columns can be provided to carry the roof it also provide privacy security and protection against natural element such as window rain and sunshine. Opening are to be provided in wall for access and ventilation.

 Openings 

Openings are normally provided in the walls as the doors, windows and ventilation doors provided access Windows and ventilation provide light and ventilation lentils are constructed just above the openings it is normally used on slab for concrete slab is the part of the ball that is just close the window lintel are constructed to hold of the walls above the openings in earthquake stone areas of continuous lintel beam is provided all over the walls.

 Stairs

 Surface / Finishes
