Basic difference between GPS, GIS and Remote Sensing

 GPS (Global Positioning System)

The system which is used to find out the position at any corner of the Earth is known as Global positioning system (GPS).

 GIS (Geographic Information System)

The system which gives information with the help of GPS in the form of data is known as Geographic Information System (GIS). It is the customizable electronic map that are created by compiling many different source of information.

Remote Sensing

The  process in which sensor (attached in satellite) move around the earth to collect the information is known as Remote Sensing.

In Remote Sensing , there are two types of remote sensor  :-
1)  active sensor
2)  passive sensor

Active sensor

It works in the night. It doesn't need sunlight to record data.

Passive sensor

It works in the presence of sunlight.
